APNTS is privileged to have Dr. Clair Budd as a visiting professor this semester from Asbury University (Wilmore, KY, USA), where he has been Professor of Christian Ministries — now in his 29th year. Clair met his wife, Pam, at Mt. Vernon Nazarene College; they have been married for 44 years this June, and have three children (Jeremy, Jennifer, and T.J.), each of whom are married and with two children of their own. Pam remains in the U.S., helping provide care for her 95-year-old mother, as well as some of the grandchildren, including currently with the newest grandchild in Palm Beach, FL — Sawyer Joel Budd, born February 11th. Dr. Budd advises he is looking forward to meeting this new little grandson in June!

Prior to his academic career, Clair served in Nazarene churches on the New England, New York, Akron, Kansas City, Los Angeles, and Oregon Pacific districts, primarily in associate roles in youth ministry, music/worship, and Christian education. While at Asbury, he has been interim pastor anywhere from several weeks up to nine months at a total of eight different churches. He has been involved in short-term mission work in several cities in Mexico, as well as in Venezuela, Brazil, and Peru. In 2015, he taught an APNTS extension class, which led to an invitation to teach on campus.

Clair’s research interests include theological anthropology, Wesleyan discipleship, adult education, and mentoring. Other diverse interests include music (piano, trumpet), sports (golf, basketball), woodworking, and gardening — and travel with Pam, especially now that she is retired from public school teaching.

Dr. Budd states, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such dedicated faculty and staff at APNTS this Spring, and for the welcome and hospitality I’ve received here!”

If you have not yet had the opportunity to meet Dr. Budd, be sure to say hello to him. You will be blessed by his commitment to education and spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ.
